Engagement

Mike asked on a June morning in Tanzania, overlooking Lake Manyara. Jess said yes. So we're getting married on the same date a year later, somewhere warm, with the people we love most.

Venue

Momentum is a small resort set among olive groves in Marinella di Selinunte, on Sicily's south-west coast, a short way from the Greek temples of Selinunte. There's an infinity pool looking out over the olives, a spa, and a courtyard strung with lights.

Your room is on us. We're covering two nights (Saturday and Sunday) and your meals across the weekend. Breakfast, the spa, the gym and bikes are all included. Drinks aren't, apart from the wine at the wedding itself.

There

Please book your own travel. Check-in is from 3pm on Saturday 19th and the pizza and pool party is that evening, so a flight that lands in Palermo around lunchtime works well. If you'd rather fly on the Friday, Palermo is worth a night on the way down.

Please arrive no earlier than Saturday 19th unless we've asked otherwise.

Fly into

Palermo (PMO)

The main airport for the west of Sicily, about 1½ hours' drive from the resort. Trapani (TPS) is a little closer if you find a route that suits.

From the UK

Direct flights

In June, Palermo has direct flights from Gatwick, Heathrow, Stansted, Luton, Manchester, Birmingham and Bristol.

On the ground

Car hire

The simplest way to reach Marinella di Selinunte. We hired from Locauto at Palermo airport: no queues, and reliable cars.

Gifts

Your company is the gift. We've chosen to cover everyone's rooms and meals because we wanted this weekend to be an easy yes, and that is where most of the wedding budget has gone.

So if you would like to give something, a contribution towards the cost of the weekend is what would help us most. There's no amount in mind. Ask us for bank details, or there will be a card box on the day.

good to

Know

Is it adults only?

Yes. The whole weekend is adults only.

Are drinks included?

No. Your meals are covered, but drinks aren't, apart from the wine served at the wedding itself. Anything else from the bar is paid for by you.

What's covered?

Your room for Saturday and Sunday night, your meals over the weekend, and use of the spa, gym and bikes. You need to get yourself to Sicily and back, and cover your own drinks.

When should I arrive?

Check-in is from 3pm on Saturday 19th June, and the pizza and pool party is that evening. If you're in the area earlier in the day, the beach and the Greek temples at Selinunte are both close by. Please arrive no earlier than the Saturday unless we've asked otherwise.

Can I stay longer?

After the weekend, yes, at your own cost. Extra nights have to be booked through us rather than with the resort, so email us or WhatsApp Mike and we'll confirm it with Momentum. Nights before the 19th are only for those we've already spoken to.

What's the weather like?

Sicily in late June is hot and sunny. There will be sun umbrellas whenever we're outdoors, and everywhere indoors, including the rooms, is air-conditioned. Pack sun cream, sunglasses and swimwear, and something light for the evenings.

Is there a dress code?

Saturday
Casual. Swimwear for the pool and something relaxed for the evening. Nothing formal.

Sunday
Usual wedding attire, but bear the heat in mind. Light fabrics will be your friend.

Monday
Anything you like.

Who do I ask if I have a question?

WhatsApp Mike, or email oursicilianwedding27@gmail.com. Any time.
